Foam Assault - NERF in the News

Well Warriors, I guess you'd better be careful who you toy with. Apparently some cops will charge you with assault for firing a foam dart at someone. Also, KMOV reported this as an attack. Technically it is, but come on! You don't have to say dumb things just because the local law enforcement folks did. In my day job, I am an assignment editor for a local news station. I would go find the couple to react to the ridiculous charges or even a worker or manager from the store to tell you why they want to press charges.

Of course the reporter/sheriff got it wrong. This isn't a nerf dart. It's some other foam slug -possibly the Air Zone slug they went to for a short time. Also, there is no such thing as a Nerf gun. One of the many reasons they are marketed as blasters instead of guns is that they can't really hurt you. Yeah, Yeah; the Nerf, it can shoot your eye out . . . .

Now, it's a dumb idea to shoot anything at people you don't know, but 3rd degree assault is equally as lame. Warriors, let's work to educate the masses on the fun of Nerf Wars. Don't do stupid things with your toys. Don't do stupid things to unwilling participants with your toys. /end public service announcement

Any warriors have experience with cops and Nerf in St. Louis County? ~Chris
